Save Our Youth transforms the lives of at-risk youth through mentor relationships, providing the skills for success in educational, emotional, and spiritual development.
Facts about Save Our Youth (SOY):
- SOY has served Denver’s urban at-risk youth since 1993.
- 445 kids, ages 10-17, are involved in SOY’s mentoring program.
- SOY’s average mentoring match lasts four years compared with the national average of 9 months.
The youth we serve:
- 90% are from single parent homes.
- 90% come from families making less than $20,000 per year.
- 80% seek out SOY to find themselves a mentor.
Why should I support mentoring?
Youth with mentors are:
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- 33% less likely to engage in violence

90% of SOY mentees graduate from high school vs. the current 30-40% graduation rate for minority students in Denver.
SOY is supported by the state’s top foundations including: Adolph Coors, Anschutz Family, Daniel’s Fund, El Pomar, Rose Community, Schlessman Family, Temple Hoyne Buell, Wells Fargo, and many others.
How do I benefit?
- SOY donors qualify for the Child Care Contribution Credit which equals a 50% state tax credit on Colorado income tax forms. (Consult your tax advisor for more details.)
