The Opportunity

Save Our Youth is seeking passionate, mission-driven individuals to join our Board of Directors and help guide us toward our bold 10-year vision—equipping youth with hope, expanding our reach, and multiplying our impact through Christ-centered mentoring. As a board member, you'll play a vital role in transforming young lives by supporting our mission to connect youth with caring adults in long-term, intentional relationships rooted in faith.

Who is Save Our Youth?

Founded in 1994, Save Our Youth exists to connect young people to hope through long-term, Christ-centered mentoring relationships. Many of the youth we serve face overwhelming challenges—poverty, trauma, systemic injustice—and often lack the presence of supportive, capable adults in their lives. These realities can lead to deep hopelessness and a belief that a better future is out of reach.

We believe that one consistent, caring relationship can make all the difference. That’s why we pair youth with mentors who walk alongside them, helping them believe in something better—and in their ability to play a role in making it happen. At the heart of our mission are four core values:

Details About the Board

The Save Our Youth Board of Directors provides strategic leadership by setting and monitoring the organization’s long-term direction, ensuring alignment with its mission to bring hope through Christ-centered mentoring. Board members are responsible for evaluating the CEO, stewarding financial health, and serving as active ambassadors who share and advocate for the vision of Save Our Youth in the community.

Board members are expected to attend five in-person meetings annually, participate in at least one committee, contribute financially (making SOY a top-three giving priority), and actively leverage their networks to support fundraising, partnerships, and public visibility.

We’re building a board that reflects the diversity and heart of our community. Ideal candidates may have experience or perspective as:

  • Former SOY mentees or alumni
  • Current or former SOY mentors
  • Individuals connected to other ministries or faith-based networks
  • Strategic thinkers with a God-centered worldview
  • People committed to being Hope Promoters
  • Those with the time, capacity, and passion to actively serve
  • Candidates who add diversity in age, gender, ethnicity, and life experience—reflecting the youth and mentors we serve

While we are open to candidates from all skill backgrounds, we’re especially interested in candidates with expertise in:

  • Business leadership and strategy
  • Legal background
  • Financial oversight and planning
