Check out all the possibilities!
If summer gets a bad rap, it’s because, for students, those long hazy days seem either boring or overly-stressful.
For that reason, we are happy to offer summer stipends as a way for mentees to participate in a wide variety of enriching activities happening around the Denver Metro and beyond. Besides the ones listed below, you are also welcome to find your own opportunity, and our Education Manager will review.
These activities need to be enriching in some way (think camps, art, music, sports, robotics, etc, and not movies, Elitch’s, etc). Stipends are not guaranteed and there is a limited number, so apply if interested, and Angela, our Education Manger will be in touch with next steps!
We encourage all matches to start by looking at the websites of local rec centers, libraries, and boys and girls clubs near where the mentee lives as these usually have some very affordable and great summer options!
SOY will cover up to $100 for a summer activity. Scroll down for the list and application form!
The following summer opportunities are not affiliated with SOY. By participating, you acknowledge that (1) you are doing so at your own risk and (2) you will do your own due diligence to make sure the opportunity is right for the mentee.

FAQ
What if I want to attend more than one summer stipend opportunity?
We ask that you start with only choosing one. This will help us stretch our budget and help more mentees enjoy a summer opportunity. If you would like to attend more than one summer opportunity, however, we will gladly help you with any of the scholarship applications given by those camps/workshops.
Can my sibling/friend go with me? Save Our Youth will only provide stipends for mentees in our program. However, some of the opportunities listed have low/no cost or scholarships.
What if I find another opportunity I’m interested in that’s not listed here? Awesome! This webpage is to simply help point you in some good directions. You are welcome to fill out the form for another opportunity you find and it will be approved on a case-by-case basis.
Will Save Our Youth provide transportation?
Save Our Youth will not provide transportation to summer opportunities. However, RTD continues to offer free public transportation for youth. We also encourage you to talk to your mentor to brainstorm options together.
What if the camp or experience I’m interested in is more than $100?
Save Our Youth will provide up to $100 to cover the costs of a summer experience. Most opportunities cost a little more than that but offer generous scholarships. We encourage you to first apply for scholarships or financial assistance from the experience itself. Then, apply for the SOY stipend of $100. Anything over $100 after that, you will be responsible for covering.
What if SOY pays and I end up not attending?
This will put you in jeopardy of being eligible for future summer opportunities through SOY. We ask that you be intentional about (1) making sure your schedule will allow you to fully participate and (2) figuring out transportation.
I’ve watched the webinar and still have questions, who do I contact? Our Education Manager, Angela Upchurch, is your main contact. Feel free to email angela@saveouryouth.org or call 720-708-7291.
What do I need to do in order to participate? Look through the different opportunities to determine which one you are interested in. Make sure you know which topic and date you want to attend. Fill out the appropriate interest form and Angela will assist you from there. We will also ask you to complete a survey after your summer experience.
