Making A Difference
Mentoring youth has been shown to have powerful positive effects on young people in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Having a mentor contributes to a youth’s healthy development and increases their social and economic opportunities.

You’ll become part of the Save Our Youth community and meet other people like you; you’ll gain new knowledge and understanding of the next generation; and you’ll grow by experiencing new adventures, and seeing life from a different perspective.

No formal experience is necessary. We provide all the training you will need.
We ask that you commit to a minimum of a one year journey. You begin by meeting weekly (quantity of time). Then as time and trust begins to grow, the goal is to have quality meet ups—it’s the difference between “let’s go get a quick bite to eat” and “let’s go for a hike.”
Boys and girls between 10-17.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Ideally, you have lived in the Denver metro area for at least a year.
- We conduct background and fingerprint screenings. We cannot accept applicants with a violent crime, sexual offense, or crime against a child on their record.
- If you have a DUI on your record, it needs to be 5 years since completing your probation.
- If you have a history of drug/alcohol abuse, there needs to be 5 years of sobriety and/or abstinence.
You are assigned a Mentoring Specialist. They are there to support you throughout the duration of the relationship. They have resources and solutions to help strengthen your match experience.
Yes. We are a community-based mentoring program. Once you are matched with a mentee, you will be picking him or her up from home and doing an activity in the community.
Our match team considers geography, interests, life experience, personality, and other factors in order to match you with a compatible mentee. Your mentee will be located near you. Once an ideal mentee is selected for you, you’ll have the option to learn more about them before confirming if you think they are a good fit or not.
